Amusing Blogs: Underside

The usual practice that I do when recommending blogs in my blog is that I first write a review before their blogs appear on my recommendations, but after reading the comment of Nina on my Rantings entry, I realized that I have not yet written my review for her blog which I have been visiting quite often these weeks. Here it is.

I think I have shared this thought very often but I'll say it again, I believe that the way people compose their words reflect the kind of personality that they possess. With this, I mean that with every choice of word, to the way they are ordered, this reflects the person that the writer is whether he or she writes this patterns voluntarily. This was my take with the blog of Nina, a prolific writer who makes good analysis on issues only that (as my usual comment on her blog) I think she has the tendency to look more on the negative aspect of things rather than see the beauty of it.

I chanced upon her blog through another online blog/pal and was impressed with the confidence that she exudes with the way she expresses her ideas. It is not very often these days that we find writers who are able to be true express the kind of truthfulness that does not wish to impress people. I think the beauty of her writing style lies on that truthfulness and that entertainment that she provides with her witty remarks and observations. I have to say that I do not necessarily agree with her ideas on certain topics especially when she exposes the glaring SAD realities of this country. The thing that worries me is that because she just writes so well, people will believe that our country is that bad despite of the advances (although little at least nag aadvance) that we have been experiencing in many aspects.

I admire her independence of ideas and her observant nature although I am still hoping that she understands my point and will try to look at the brighter side of things more especially when writing about the state of this country.

Amazing Blogs: When Hanna soared

To live a dream is to be truly alive. A few months ago, I was spending a lot of conversation with a friend on a single topic... following our dream. I will not claim that I am an expert of it but I really believe in my heart that dreams are God's whispers in our hearts that direct us to a path that He has carved out for us. Because he placed in there, He will see us through it.

Hanna is a good friend. I could say that despite of not really being able to see each other, we have developed a friendship that I am happy about. In the few instances that her name appears in YM when I go online, we simply bond. A few months ago, she shared to me how it seemed to her that she is in some rough road. A state in her life when she simply does not know what to do with her life. She has a good and stable job, but she hates it and it seemed to me that something in her heart wants more of what life has to offer. Finally, she took a leap of faith and witnessed a miracle.

Her new blog chronicles her adventures with a program called Up with People. I do not want to tell the story of how it happened that she's suddenly travelling on 19 cities, 7 countries and 3 continents but her dream is a miracle from God. An inspiration for each of us to heed that desire in our hearts and pursue our dreams.

I am happy that she is living her dream. After all the worrying and the fears that she had God gave her a miracle. At the end of it all just as Santiago learned in The Alchemist, When you want something deep in your heart, the universe will conspire to make it happen. I'm vouching for that and I'm sure Hanna is also.

Amusing Blogs: the Bitch Goddess, Unraveled

It has been a while since I wrote about blogs that has caught my fancy. This is because there hasn't been one lately. Finally, I have this one -- The Bitch Goddess, Unraveled

The world that we have now is so full of images and perceptions that in some way dictate the kind of person we should be. Our society is so full of dictates that do not only limit our actions but judge us according to how perceptions are formed about us. The point of blogging is that it allows the blogger to celebrate their individuality without fear of judgment.
In the Bitch Goddess, the author makes a statement of being Bitchy and stands proud of it. In a society where people perceive someone "bitchy" as a negative thing, its a wonder how she can make a statement out of it... and a good statement at that. It is not a question of how she lives her life or what her belief system is, it is about developing that confidence in oneself enough to live out a kind of person according to the dictates of our hearts and not according to society. I am not an advocate of whatever statement she makes but I am an advocate of people who have the sense of individuality to be the person that they truly are.
She chronicles events in her life that to an ordinary person can be uninteresting, yet the story telling gives us the glimpse of how these events define the person that she is in the way she relates her feeling and of course the course of action that she takes. I could sense that there is talent in her writing but more than that I am sure she writes well because what she writes about are things that are close to her heart.
Anyway, just visit the blogsite... this really is a good one...

Amusing Blogs: Q 4 U

When I was in third year high school I used to cut school every Social Studies class. I did not like the teacher nor was I interested to actually learn about economics. I do not know how I passed the subject, I just did. When I cut class I do not do it to do something else like play computer and all that stuff, I simply do not want to attend the subject and I come back just in time for the next one. In all those times that I leisurely walk and waste the time away I was with someone who felt the same way about the subject I am referring to. It was one of those times that we get to talk about things and it was fun and we were never caught... that person is Jhett.

Jhett is the owner of the blog Q 4 U. I use to envy the way she composes her thoughts and put it into writing. There is so much emotion and she describes something very vividly that you could feel that you are part of the thing she is writing about. That is the reason why her blog is also very good. She writes well and has a knack for visual graphics which is a perfect combination. Her blog is, obviously, about her life only that she writes it very well. There is so much emotion and you just can't help it but be carried away.

Amusing Blogs: Gael's Letters

This blog is a creation of a Bratmate's wife. By bratmate I mean that our fathers are classmates (by classmates it just means that they graduated in the same PMA Class) in the Academy. I drew the sword in their wedding and although we are not exactly close, the fact that we have something in common kind of makes me relate to the things that she goes through. What is special about this blog is that it is addressed to a young child who just turned one year old recently. The blog basically tells the different things that happen to her, as a military wife, a mother, a working mom and simply being herself. What amazes me is the amount of love that is shown in each of the entries. The way she tries to make do out of her cicumstances and yet be optimistic of the things that are to come. Her frustrations are so natural and yet her reaction is something that not many people can actually apply in their own lives. Here is a woman who simply wanted to enjoy life and is doing it despite of the realities that she is faced with. Perhaps what makes this blog very close to my heart is that to some extent it mirrors the same feelings that my mother had raising me and my other siblings. The blog clearly exposes the human spirit at its best conquering the daily difficulties that each of us face.

Amusing Blogs: Bananaspin

Hanna is my friend. I guess even if we only saw each other for about 5 times we are by all means friends. Her blog is Bananaspin, she does not update as often as I do but she does write some interesting things every now and then. Like this time she wrote about her Discovery Weekend with her soon to be husband and somehow I just can't help it but cry. Not because her story is so sad but because her story is so good that I wish I had the same. Amusing is not exactly the word to describe her blog, it's more like my blog, very personal, straight from the heart. Just forgive my choice of word because I have always used Amusing as a safe way to say that there is something in this blogs that I feature. Nonetheless, Hanna is a great person with a big heart and her blog reveals that... enjoy reading

Amusing Blogs: That Girl Emily

The image on top is an actual billboard. Believe it or not, it is part of a wife's revenge on her cheating husband. I do not know if this is something to laugh at but this is true. In this blog, a girl named Emily made launched 14 days of revenge against her cheating husband. All 14 days are chronicled in this blog... you should see it, it's amusing if not hilarious....
